Our 3-day Fes to Marrakech desert tour begins by picking you up from your accommodation or the airport in Fes. Once you are ready, we will begin driving south through the Middle Atlas Mountains.
Our first stop will be in Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” because of its European-style houses and clean streets. We will take a short walk to see the famous Atlas Lion statue and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the town.
Next, we will continue to the Cedar Forest near Azrou. Here, we will visit the Barbary macaques in their natural habitat and spend some time enjoying the fresh mountain air.
After that, we will drive through the green open fields of the Middle Atlas, where Berber nomads move with their animals across the land. We will stop for lunch in Midelt before continuing our journey.
In the afternoon, we will cross the High Atlas Mountains, reaching an altitude of around 1,927 meters above sea level. Along the way, we will stop at panoramic viewpoints overlooking the Ziz Gorges and Ziz Valley, where you can admire the palm groves stretching along the oasis.
Late in the afternoon, we will arrive in Merzouga, at the edge of the Sahara Desert. From here, we will begin the camel trek across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. We will ride the camels into the heart of the dunes and stop on a high dune to watch the sunset.
After sunset, we will continue to the desert camp. Once there, we will check into your private Berber tent and prepare for dinner. In the evening, we will gather around the campfire while the staff plays traditional desert drums. You will also have free time to walk up the dunes for stargazing under the clear desert sky.
Dinner and overnight stay in a desert camp.
