Morocco’s Desert Tours
When you arrive at Fes airport, we will welcome you and transfer you to your riad or hotel. Today is mainly for relaxing after your flight and preparing for your 10-day Morocco adventure. If you arrive early, we can take a short walk around the area so you can start discovering the atmosphere of Fes. This city is one of Morocco’s oldest imperial cities and is known for its traditional lifestyle and rich history. You can explore nearby streets or simply relax at your riad. Tomorrow, we will fully discover Fes with a local guide. Overnight stay in Fes.-

After breakfast, we will begin exploring Fes with a professional local guide. Since most attractions are located inside the old Medina, we will divide the tour into two parts: one by car and one walking through the ancient streets. First, we will drive to the Royal Palace gate, where we will admire the beautiful golden doors and learn about Moroccan architecture. Then, we will walk through the Mellah, the old Jewish quarter of Fes. Next, we will drive to a panoramic viewpoint where we will enjoy a stunning view over the entire Medina. After that, we will visit a ceramic cooperative where skilled artisans create traditional Moroccan tiles, plates, and handmade decorations. Then, we will enter Fes el-Bali on foot. Inside the Medina, we will visit Al-Qarawiyyin University, known as the oldest university in the world. We will continue to the Bou Inania Madrasa and explore the Chouara Tanneries, where leather is dyed using traditional methods. In the late afternoon, you will have free time to explore the Medina on your own before returning to your riad. Overnight stay in Fes.After breakfast, we will leave Fes and begin our journey toward the Sahara Desert. Our first stop will be in Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco.” We will take a short walk to see the Atlas Lion statue and enjoy the clean mountain atmosphere. Next, we will continue to the Cedar Forest near Azrou, where we will see the Barbary macaques in their natural environment. As we drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains, the landscape will gradually change. We will pass through Berber villages and stop for lunch along the way. In the afternoon, we will stop at a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the Ziz Valley, famous for its palm groves and oasis scenery. By evening, we will arrive in Merzouga and check into your hotel near the dunes. Here you can relax and prepare for the desert experience the next day. Overnight in Merzouga.After breakfast, we will begin exploring the Merzouga desert region. First, we will visit a nomadic Berber family living in traditional tents. We will sit with them, share tea, and learn about their way of life in the Sahara. Next, we will visit the old Kohl mines near the Algerian border and then continue to Khamlia village, where we will enjoy traditional Gnawa music performed by local musicians. In the late afternoon, we will return to Merzouga village to begin the camel trekking experience. We will ride camels across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi and stop on a high dune to enjoy the sunset. After sunset, we will continue to the desert camp. Once there, we will check into your private tent and enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner. In the evening, we will gather around the campfire with Berber music under the starry sky. Overnight in a desert camp.We recommend waking up early to watch the sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, we will leave Merzouga and drive to Rissani, an important historic trading town. If it is market day, we will visit the traditional souk. Next, we will continue toward Todra Gorges. These dramatic cliffs rise high above the river and create one of Morocco’s most impressive natural landscapes. We will walk through the canyon and enjoy the scenery. In the afternoon, we will drive to Dades Valley. On the way, we will stop to admire the unique rock formations known as the “Monkey Toes.” Dinner and overnight in Dades Gorges.After breakfast, we will travel along the famous Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. First, we will visit Berber nomads who live in caves in the mountains. Then, we will continue to the Rose Valley in Kalaat M’Gouna, where we will visit a local cooperative producing rose-based products. Next, we will visit the historic Kasbah Amridil in Skoura, a well-preserved mud-brick fortress that reflects traditional Berber architecture. In the late afternoon, we will arrive in Ouarzazate. If time allows, we will visit Atlas Studios and Kasbah Taourirt before transferring you to your accommodation. Overnight in Ouarzazate.After breakfast, we will head to the famous Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most photographed places in Morocco. We will walk through its narrow alleys and learn about its history as an important caravan stop. After that, we will cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi N’Tichka Pass at 2,260 meters. We will stop along the way to enjoy panoramic mountain views. By late afternoon, we will arrive in Marrakech and transfer you to your riad. In the evening, you can walk to Jemaa El-Fna square and enjoy its lively atmosphere. Overnight in Marrakech.After breakfast, we will explore Marrakech with a local guide. We will start with the Koutoubia Mosque, then visit the Saadian Tombs and the Bahia Palace. We will also explore the Badi Palace and walk through the colorful souks of the Medina. After lunch, we will drive to the Majorelle Garden to enjoy its exotic plants and vibrant blue architecture. In the evening, we will return to Jemaa El-Fna square, where street performers and musicians create a lively atmosphere. Overnight in Marrakech.After breakfast, we will drive to Essaouira, a charming coastal city about three hours away. Once there, we will walk through the old Medina, visit the fishing port, and explore the Skala fortress overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. We will also visit a women’s Argan oil cooperative on the way. You will have free time for lunch and a walk along the beach before we return to Marrakech in the late afternoon.
